I don't mind it, but I think during cooking it can be a little strong. When my mom was pregnant with me she developed a curry aversion. Because of it I never had anything cooked with curry until I was an adult.
Usually I love the smell of curry cooking - at home or at a restaurant. But, I'm careful when I cook it at home to air the place out LOL - because it's not as nice to come home the next day to the stale smell of curry. That's true for any highly aromatic meal, though.
I love curries but hate the smell. I actually find it really off-putting. It's impossible to get rid of it if you cook curries at home. It seems to linger on for days. I end up opening windows and doors even in winter. It also seems to pervade throguh your skin which I loathe.
I assumed we were talking about Indian curry, so I voted dislike.
It is probably the one ethnic cuisine I've been exposed to that I do not like. I can't get around the fact that the restaurant/grocery store smells just plain awful to me. Unpleasant odor hits me as soon as I walk in.
I can't stand the smell of curry. When I was a teenager we lived in London, and the next door neighbors were Indian. They were always cooking with curry, and in the warmer weather I could always smell it. I really grew to hate it. I don't care for the taste of curry, either.
On my budget, I always stay in motels where you can smell the curry wafting out to the front desk. Sometime I ask if they have enough for one more plate, but they are very frugal and make only as much as their family will eat. Once, in Albany, Georgia, mama made me up a plate of goodies.
