With so many beverages on the market, it might be hard to know just how bad some of them can be for your waistline.

You might be consuming more calories than you think when sipping on that drink...

Thank goodness my favorite sparkling water isn't there or my preferred scotch........

fwiw, I always considered something labeled Starbucks to be both over priced and inferior quality..........

I have never had any of those either but I sure as heck consume a lot more carbohydrates, fat and sugar than any of those contain and I'm not fat. I drink 6 to 9 RC Colas every day.

Quote:
Smoothie King’s The Hulk, Strawberry (40 ounces)
  • 2,088 calories
  • 70 g fat (32 g saturated)
  • 240 g sugars
While this smoothie is designed to help people gain weight, two-thirds of Americans are already overweight.
That's a bit unfair - as long as they advertise it as a high-calorie shake deigned for weight gain, what is the problem? Is everything designed to assist in weight gain now going to be labelled unhealthy? Just because people who need to gain weight are in the minority, companies shouldn't market to them?

I'm guilty of having a root beer float now and then, I will admit. And one year I did have one of those Christmas Starbucks drinks. But here in this house we don't drink any alcohol, only drink FRS energy drinks, and we drink coffee with nonfat milk, no sugar, unsweetened hot and cold tea, ice water and orange juice. And we drink sugar-free hot chocolate. No sodas except the root beer for floats, and only once in awhile.

I would rather eat my calories than drink them. Thanks for pointing this out - I love those Eat This, Not That articles and books.

I think a lot of these are made to look scarier by crunching the stats on the largest size on the menu. 40oz of anything sweetened is going to be ridiculously high in calories and fats. Can't say I've tried any of these, except for the little Starbucks Frappucino drinks once in a blue moon.
