I thought I'e revive this for this time of year.

I recommend Gethsemani Farms (A Trappist abbey/monastery in KY)
OMG the REAL KY bourbon fruitcake is A- MA- ZING! and they do cheeses and fudge.

For other baked goods -- everything I've ordered from Pittman and Davis -- and Wolferman's -- have been hits.

I started another thread to get ideas about where to order good steaks. Some good suggestions there too.

ANd I'd love to order some tins of goumet flavored popcorn -- but they are crazy expensive...for POPCORN! Yikes.
(I mean places like Garrett's in Chicago, Popcornopolis, The Popcorn Factory, etc)

I make only homemade food gifts for any holiday from Diwali right year round. Every Christmas season I bake German Christmas cookies (Lebkuchen, ginger bread cookies, short bread cookies,Marzipan Stollen and the list goes on) and send them off to family and friends overseas and locally. My baking starts mid November and lasts til the 3. week or so in December. Everything is done the old fashion way kneading by hand.

I make a whole bunch of homemade treats and it IS the right time to start thinking about it if you have a large family.

My baskets include:

BBQ spice rubs
Homemade vanilla extract (made on New Years day of the previous year and handed out for Christmas)
Habanero pineapple salsa (a huge hit that I get asked for each year)
My own curry spice mixture
And some sort of sweet candy ( this year I am making spiced pumpkin seed brittle)

My sister makes flan to give out to family and friends. My nieghbor makes guava marmalade and flans he hands out.

This year my daughter and I are making candy for the first time to go along with the Christmas cookies we usually make. I also like gifts from Williams Sonoma and Harry David.
