Are you the type who's willing to try a new small diner as soon as it opens, or you wait for reviews of others?
I will try a new Diner or restaurant, just not when it first opens. Usually they are still working the "bugs" out and your first experience may not be the best they have to offer....
Sometimes I have a hankerin' for a smoked turkey sandwich on whatever-the-name-it-is cheese bread from Panera. Sometimes I have a yen for a bacon and cheese omelette from the neighborhood diner.
It used to be that way, but now I eat healthful foods, since mrsrainroosty and I have to. She has cancer and I have diabetes type II.
Since I have changed my eating habits I am now doing very well!
That's the point: don't wait, take care of your health before it's too late. I had a friend who took 11 meds, for diabetes, hypertension and hypercholesterolemia, and got rid of most of them after changing his eating habits.
I prefer mom & pop restaurants.
There are plenty of mom & pop Tex-Mex/Mexican food restaurants here in San Antonio to choose from.
I'm different from my family though.. they all prefer chains and rarely go to independent restaurants. Whenever I suggest trying something new, I'm always cut down. Their favorite restaurant happens to be Olive Garden. It's such a cheesy place in my opinion..
I like the mom and pops that actually are creative. I have no use for those that are basically store fronts for Sysco or Ben E Keiths wholesalers. I will not go back to a mom and pop if their breakfast is frozen biscuits, canned gravy, preformed sausage patties, and ore Ida knockoff hash browns.
