Some of my favorite memories as a child was wading in the creek with my granddad hunting frogs. Go out late, with "bigbeam" flashlights turned off till we (my cousins, brothers, and gramps) heard a big one. On the count of three everyone turns their flashlight on the frog, blinding it so it could be picked up by hand. Come home with a gunny sack full of frogs.......30 or 40.....then help gramps clean them........and granny would fry them up (chicken fry style....flour, salt, etc) with a little bacon fat, some eggs, some buttered grits, fresh biscuits, and "frog gravy."

Since them I have enjoyed them in french restaurants "Sauteed" with butter, garlic, basil, etc; casino buffets ( think they were baked); some of those "hoity toity" pretentious but unremarkable restaurants........but nothing ever came close to those granny fixed for breakfast after a long nights hunt.

Do any of you find the ones you buy today lacking in flavor? Do you even cook with them?

Every time I've had them they taste like chicken wings. No hot sauce though.

To my eye they resemble little pantyhose.

Actually, I've never had frog legs, but it's something that has been on my list to try for quite a while. Everywhere I go though, they seem so expensive.

I saw them last week and they were $4.99/lb which sounded like a pretty good price. Most fishmongers can get ahold of them as you are not going to find them in your local grocery store.

I do not eat them. I asked once what they tasted like, of course I get the universal answer... "Chicken"

Well, I am all about Sam Kinnison's routine where he says..... "Chicken? They taste like Chicken? Then just eat effing CHICKEN~!!!!!!!" lol

Chicken is good enough for me.

Had frog legs once in a la-dee-dah restaurant. My reaction was "eh".

(Why is it that everything tastes like chicken except for eggs? )

I think they taste a little like a chickencrab, if there were such a thing.

I get them at restaurants from time to time, but I can't say I've ever had fresh off the frog ones.

I like them breaded and fried, with a little tartar sauce and lemon.

It's probably my own fault as I generally never check the grocery store, but they always come to mind when I happen to see them on the menu in a pricy restaurant.
