Hi, New here. What are some good books about learning about food like taste and texture. I thank everyone very much for their help.

If you walk into a book store and go to the cooking/nutrition section you should find what you are looking for.

Yeah, you can get more info online than ever before. That being said, I bought this book for my step-daughter for Christmas and she loves it. http://www.amazon.com/Simple-Art-Eat...ilpage_o02_s00

Who needs books when you have an access to Internet?
The best way to learn about food and taste is to go out to eat, and be adventurous.
Visit some ethnic restaurants (mom and pop places are the best, and probably most authentic) and try new dishes. Talk with the cook, ask how is cooked, then go back home and explore the rest on internet.
If you can, travel and try local cuisine. You can't learn about "food like taste and texture" just from the books...

Start with the latest edition of "The Professional Chef". It is instructional and not a recipe book.

Pretty much every professional chef I know has a dog-eared copy of Harold McGee's "On Food and Cooking".

Yep I was gonna say this as well as food essays by John McPhee and Calvin Trillin - for something a little different.

Start with something short and fun to read like Laurie Colwin's Home Cooking. It's a book of essays by someone who loves cooking, and she includes a few recipes too.

Another vote for this book. Also:
The Food Lover's Companion- a dictionary for food, terminology, ingredients etc.
