Tonight is a Family Pack from the local pizza joint, a sm pepperoni pizza, lasagna w/ meat sauce, garlic sticks, and a salad. With only two of us, it'll be a good 2-3 meals.

Also when eating in a restaurant and ordering catfish, ask if its real catfish or basa.

Most restaurants serve basa, calling it catfish which it is not a catfish at all. Basa has scales and no catfish has scales.

Most basa is imported from Thailand and they farm them in waste treatment plants. Basa are used to cleanup the sludge, (human leftover waste) and then harvested and sold all over the word as catfish.

So if you don't mind eating fake catfish that lives off of human waste and is farmed in Thailand without regulations, go right ahead and order it.

Me, I'll stick to local farm raised or wild caught catfish from Louisiana or Mississippi waters.

Same with shrimp, I'll keep eating fresh caught local shrimp from Louisiana or Mississippi waters.
Woah, thanks for all the interesting information, basa! Luckily I hate catfish anyway. I wonder how much of that basa is served around here.. catfish is very very popular here!

I found some frozen turkey dumplings at a Polish market, and I figured I'd make some soup.

KSHE,

use basil leaves in your salad, use them instead of lettuce on sandwiches, make the pasta and pepper salad I posted on page 1 or 2 of the pasta salad thread in recipes, make an appetizer of thin sliced baguette topped with goat cheese and a basil leaf...

I could go on, I think...

Oh, you could also make a ranchy tasting dressing by throwing a bunch of basil, 2 c. mayo or 2. c greek-style yogurt (or one of each), garlic to taste, salt, pepper, and any other yummy herbs you've got in the food processor... See, I COULD go on!
