Yesterday I totaled up my 2009 grocery receipts and was pleased to see that they averaged $105.00 a week. We don't eat fast food & I cook mostly from scratch and we eat very well, although there are just the 2 of us, I make a lot of food for other people and they were included in the total. I am just curious on what others spend on food each week.

I have no idea Guess I could go onto my end of the year credit card statements and find out. They usually break it down into categories and I pay everything with my card. Thinking about it, I don't think that would work because when I shop (a lot) at Costco I usually buy other things beside food.

$105. though doesn't seem bad at all. Good job Kelsie

I am lucky if I can get out of the store for under $120. Thats 3 people, 5 cats and a dog.
I cook from scratch, grow my own herbs, veggie garden in spring and fall..... I think thats doing pretty well.

$80 per week for the two of us is the budget. We rarely reach it though, oftentimes coming in at about $50-60. This includes all groceries and eating out. I cook from scratch at home, and we support local diners and the like when we do go out, so fairly low cost.

My weekly budget is $165, sometimes $175, but that includes household items like detergent, soap, shampoo, etc. If I have a lot of that kind of thing to buy, I have to scale the food back.

We're a family of five, no pets. We also almost never eat out, so that money includes everyone's lunches.

Just 2 of us and probably average about $120-$150. The price of fresh fruit/produce accounts for most of that.

We vary- I budget $100 a week and NEVER go over that. But, sometimes I can get a good amount under. On average, I spend maybe $80 a week. That's for 3 of us (myself, dh and almost 4 year old). That does NOT include our detergent and coffee.. we get that at BJ's and it comes from a different fund.
