Right now our supermarket has fresh picking cucumbers wax free. Anyone have a recipe using cayenne to make a spicy bread and butter?

Oh come now. Surely not! That brine makes some good sipping!

Kosher dills for me every time! The crispier the better!

And I absolutely love pickled okra. WOW.

As another poster pointed out, they are soaked in sodium and bad for the blood vessels. But they are low in calories, at least (the non-sweet ones).

I partake occasionally. I like all kinds of pickles. Dills, bread & butter, sweet gherkins.

One pickle I do miss from my days spent in southern MI is a small pickle called a Polish Wyrob. Can’t find them anywhere now.

Mt Olive sells Polski Wyrobs as "Polish Kosher Dills". They're spicier than regular Kosher dills.

Polish Kosher Dills

Just add a split fresh cayenne or jalapeño to each jar.

I was all set to dispute this. I am one of the fortunate few who are "salt-resistant". I have low blood pressure, and salt has no effect on my BP. And at 60+ yrs of age, I would know by now. But I thought I would do a quick google before I jumped all over you, because as the old saying goes, "I ain't often right, but I've never been wrong".

And guess what, salt is bad for your blood vessels, even if you are salt-resistant.

https://www.webmd.com/hypertension-h...blood-pressure

A short snippet:

Even if you don't develop high blood pressure from eating too much salt, you may still be damaging your blood vessels, heart, kidneys and brain, a new study warns. Researchers reviewed available evidence and found that high levels of salt consumption have harmful effects on a number of organs and tissues, even in people who are "salt-resistant," which means their salt intake does not affect their blood pressure. High salt consumption levels can lead to reduced function of the endothelium, which is the inner lining of blood vessels. Endothelial cells are involved in a number of processes, including blood clotting and immune function. High salt levels can also increase artery stiffness, the researchers said.

I guess I should at least stay aware of how much salt I get. I tend to not use salt anyways, not because it's bad for you, but simply because I don't like salty foods. But I do love me some pickles.

Thanks for ruining the rest of my life.

I love all types of pickles. The farmers market near me has this pickle guy and 2 of my favorites are the honey mustard pickle and red flannel pickle. The red flannel is sweet and spicy. I do love Vlasic sweet gherkins too and I also like the Claussen brand.
