The skin and bones are really good for you. The bones are an excellent source od calcium, and the skin is loaded with Omega 3.

Caught some carp - not very popular in the US, but in Hungary it is a staple in their fish stew. I don't really care for most freshwater fish, but I love fishing. It's very relaxing, rewarding, and fresh bluegill fried at camp is a lovely treat.

Anything caught fresh and fried at camp is a treat.
I like smoked carp. You can find it at the Eastern European delis here.

Canned asparagus was sort of mushy-gross with gristle mixed in. Gaggable.

I used to hate canned stewed tomatos, but now I think they are ok for a recipe ingredient (not straight-up).

I agree, that was going to be my choice. It's night and day between canned and fresh.

How about pickled pigs' feet? Or those hideous pink-tinted pickled eggs they always keep right next to the pickled pigs's feet?

And is there anything more frightening on earth than a can of Libby's Potted Meat Food Product?

Yes, come to think of it, there is -- the Spam knockoff called Treet. Someone hand me the smelling salts.
