I used to be scared of eggplant until I tried it. I hated eggs as a kid (I love them now) so the words eggplant was just terrifying and I refused to try it, thinking it was a plant made out of eggs. Now, I eat it all the time. ;-)
My list would be:
Spam - no thank you
Grits - I am a texture person and this just looks very gritty and not something I'd like. Also, there is not really a big market for grits here in the Bay Area, CA so I haven't had any exposure to them. They are certainly not a staple around here. I don't even think I heard of them until about 10 years ago. But, I hear people raving about them so maybe someday.
Squid - I just can't get past the look of them, and the texture
Octopus - see above
I have never tried oysters on the half shell. But then again I really have no desire to!
I would like to try Sake. And I want to drink it out of those cute little Japanese cups you always see people doing on TV and movies.
Mountain Dew- the color is too yellow for me. It looks like yellow corn syrup, smells too sweet, I have no clue what it tastes like, just looks ugly.
Canned vegetables- equal slime factor. I have never had a canned vegetable, aside from some beets. They look bad, smell bad, and I am sure the taste is bad. Fresh or go without.
Speaking of slime, okra, I have never had it, someone described it to me as being "slimy", enough said.
No, I love peanut butter. In fact, I would always make peanut butter sandwiches growing up, and still do, but no jelly. I admit apple jelly sounds tempting, but I've never gotten around to it.
I've never had pop tarts, fruit loops or lucky charms "cereal". Never had a Hersheys candy bar. Never had a Boston cream donut, canned gravy or egg substitute.
