Not many people will know what I am talking about but there's a small chain called Wards Hamburgers. Most if not all of them still o pened are in Mississippi. OMG, those are the best hamburgers. I dream about a Big One. I don't even know what brand of root beer they use but it's the best! If you are ever in MS, stop there and eat.

Hardees is pretty good, too.

Eta, there's a Culver's just down the street from me. I have yet to eat there but I've heard nothing but good things about their burgers. I may try one soon.

I remember Wards! Haha...I was always told to avoid them though. I did love Bumpers...especially their fried pickles! Yum!

LOL, I do remember back in the day there were a few cases of food poisoning. I think it was from the chili they top the burgers with.

I'd honestly risk food poisoning for one of their burgers.

In the late 1980s, Wards opened a restaurant and I was among the first hired before they opened,...my first job. The "Big One" and "Little One" were burgers that had a spoon full of chilli on the burger patty. We did great business until management decided to make cutbacks. They began watering down their homemade chilli, they stopped buying the quality meats and went with cheaper meats, and they thinned the rootbeer mix (their rootbeer is homemade in the store). Business went down and management wondered why, their poor college degrees gone to waste. They began charging employees full price for their food and drink. The last straw for many was when they charged the employees for the cup and straw they used to drink water. I was happy to see Ward's Burgers shut down. Had they kept the food quality where it was, it probably would still be there.

I'm not much of a burger guy, but if i were to choose, it would be Becks Prime and In' Out' Burger.
