RAI TV confirmed on Wednesday that it had suspended Beppe Bigazzi, the 77-year-old host of a popular morning program that offers food tips and recipes in a country fiercely proud of its cuisine.
Shocked the nation? Which nation? Italy? I find that hard to believe - every country I visited in Europe joked about Italians being cat-eaters.
During WW II in Dalmatia the locals had to hide their cats from the occupying Italians. Or at least, that's what I was told by the elders.
