I never liked the bacon in London, personally. I did like a lot of England's foods, but not their bacon. Ahhh, fish and chips, and one place used to make the best hamburgers with fried onions......but I digress. I do agree it can be difficult to find a lean cut of bacon in the U.S. Still, I prefer U.S. bacon. I agree it's often a matter of what you are used to.
I wonder why the American palate has developed a taste for streaky bacon, where the British prefer the lean... Streaky bacon is available in every supermarket the UK, but it's not nearly as popular as the more meaty loin cuts...
Anyway - dear poster - you can buy good back bacon online, and this looks scrummy, they follow a 300-year-old Wiltshire recipe...

Oh, come on..have you TASTED our bacon? Who couldn't like it? I don't know what that stuff in the picture is, but it looks more like italian ham...capicola or such.
Buy some thick sliced, expensive bacon and you gotta like it.
As many posters have mentioned ad nauseum that the back bacon is readily available at most butcher shops and supermarkets. I have a feeling that even if the OP found it, it would be unsatisfactory.
However, you might be able to find some bacon in a can from Europe - usually Dak or Clebrity and usually found at K-Mart.
you haven't lived until you've had a sandwich made of avocado slices, crispy bacon, and baby spinach leaves on a good quality bread. Also excellent of course is the classic B-L-T sandwich.
Throw in some sauteed onions and I'd be in heaven.
A good way to get thicker chunks of meat with less fat in your bacon is to buy the "ends and pieces" box from Wal-Mart.
I don't even eat much bacon at home but boy did I have a craving for it whilst I was in the States.
American bacon is good on some things but sooner or later I'm going to be wanting old school Aussie bacon.
I'm just poking my nose in here and taking notes for future reference.
