Hi,

I always prefer organic milk because it contains healthy omega-3 fatty acids and has more disease-fighting antioxidants than non-organic milk.

Thanks.

No sense in arguing religion, but here's a few facts city slickers may not know--

No credible evidence "organic food" improves health outcomes. If they "really" do, it's such a small difference that it can't be separated out of the data. (Although we must admit, there apparently is a huge mental health advantage for some people.)

A cow doesn't give milk until it has given birth. After birthing, the cow makes growth hormone (also known as somatotropin) in increased amounts, and those taper off over the course of the next year or so. In WWII, milk production was increased by giving bST, and over the last 80 yrs, it has been proven to be safe & effective. (more milk from fewer cow = good for the environment)..If you drink milk from a cow that has just given birth, you're ingesting as much bST as if it had been treated regularly with bST...And it wouldn't make any difference to you because bST is digested & destroyed like any other protein after you eat it. None of it is absorbed intact.

Expiration dates have nothing at all to do with how long a product will last. They are applied with the intention of increasing sales by implying food should be tossed out and wasted before it needs to be.

We can't argue taste, but the taste of milk comes from its intrinsic characteristics, modified by the cows' diet. Because the milk you buy is a mixture of the milk from many cows from many farms, imagination may play a bigger role in perception than is justified.

That said, I'm sure nobody's mind set has been changed. "A fool and his money...."

One warning about raw milk-- An analogy to the Five Second Rule when you drop your toast on the floor---The risk of infection is minimal when FRESH raw milk is ingested-- But take it home and let it sit and the few bacteria in there get a chance to multiply to the point where they may be a problem. Pasteurize it (warm it to 165deg for 15 seconds, then refrigerate it)...But given the imaginary health benefit of raw milk, why bother?

Again that is not true at all, without knowing what feeds the cows ate. The omega 3 content can be as normal as non-organic milk.

You want to buy grass fed organic milk to get the highest omega3 content without artificial omega3 fortification.

Drinking milk to get omega3 is not exactly the optimal method. Just eating a small amount of sardines or tuna gives much higher quality marine DHA. Squid or octopus.
