Anything but scallops. I think it's the jiggly texture, I just can't do it. I'm not a big fan of raw oysters, but love them fried. Same for clams.

I don't know what it was, but in southern Spain I had some sort of fried things that were a little green (they didn't know the English word, but maybe sea urchin or anemone?), but fantastic. And some sort of white fish that they fried in chunks and sprinkled with lemon.....and boquerones.....and sea minnows....I think all of that would be my favorite.

Lobster...eh, it is okay. I find it funny that something that was once considered peasant food and fed to prisoners (many of whom refused to eat it because they were 'above' such a poor man's food) not too long ago is now considered some kind of luxury.

At least here in Maine, I can buy it for $3 a pound, and anyone outside of New England is getting severely ripped off.

By the way, no one eats a lobster's tail. The tail is the fan on the end comprised of the uropods and telson. What Red Lobster has duped you into believing is the tail is actually the abdomen. And if you really are a lobster connoisseur, do you suck -not pick- the meat out of the legs? Do you enjoy the tomalley?

Enough of the soapbox. Personally, I hate steamers, but love fried clams. Outside of that, there is not much from the sea that I will not eat or do not like.
Abalone up off Mendocino is often seized by the authorities from people illegally harvesting them. In one town the contraband is given to a senior center for consumption, and the kitchen sells lunch to the public for the center's profit.

Ditto on lobster. I won't turn it down but I don't drool and wipe my chin with $50 bills. I prefer Dungeness crab. I'll take soft shell crab too, when they're available. This is gonna sound like a stupid cause for turning away, but for years I would have said scallops, until they started turning up everywhere, on TV, in cooking magazines, recipes...everywhere! Doesn't mean I ate more, but I'm just sick of them and the ubiquity. For fish, I love petrale. Or any flounder, really. Striped bass is a near fave. Trout and salmon, relatively just OK. But get me--"just OK." Good food can't really be ranked. I also sometimes crave the flavor of squid ink pasta with prawns.

ok, ok, well after spending over 30 years in the fishing seafood biz I can safely say I LOV IT ALL.
I remember, yes, getting Ab's at Santa Rosa Island, Ca, in the 60-70's by the sack full and I love abs.
also the Dungeness crabs at SF Fishermens Wharf were I think about 3 for a $1.00, thats what my folks paid...
lived on Whidbey Island for years and got my own...
I have been a fisherman, buyer, seller, processor, sales ex etc. and have given talks etc about seafood for years.
Always know the sourch of the fish, seafood, and know when your store gets it in etc.
if it smells funny, then forget it.
Today fish is flown in from around the world in hours and you can get great fresh product just about anywhere..but buyer beware...

I will spend some more time on this subject later.
