We really need to get this stuff out of our food supply.

They also need to get rid of nitrites. However, it isn't going to happen. HFCS is cheaper to produce than sugar so that is why it basically replaced it.

Just buy the European or Mexican versions. You can find HFCS free ketchup and other condiments at Trader Joe's. Really, HFCS are only in stuff you shouldn't be eating anyway, like coke, cookies, candy, etc. But, the Mexican and European (Canadian too, now that I think of it) varieties of the same brands are not allowed to use HFCS. In fact, you can buy Mexican coke at Costco, and it's made with real sugar. I'm not condoning drinking soda, but anything is better than HFCS.

As far as nitrates, I have zero in my diet. I will only by nitrate-free products. They are available, you just have to look outside your mass supermarket.

There are a lot of ingredients in America's prepackaged foods that are bad for us. We really can't depend on the FDA to protect us, we need to read all labels and buy accordingly, or just hope for the best.

Trust the FDA...LOL. We live in a country that has no control over the food supply. The food companies dictate what is available and they are motivated by profit and not the welfare of the people. In America we have a unique system that allows the food industry to poison us and the pharmaceutical to manufacture medications to correct the illnesses caused by the food. This way we keep to industries going.

If you are a parent feeding your children processed foods or allowing your local school system to do the same then you need to investigate the ills of processed foods, HFCS on the top of the list, or do nothing and allow your child to become an obese diabetic whose life will end in limb amputation, blindness, and mental illness.

Only solution is to go to whole foods. Only buy an eat food in its preprocessed form.

Wow!

It's been on my mind for a few years now...since the cloning of animals and the use of cloned milk in jugs at walmart- and the consumer doesn't know we are buying cloned milk-

so just over a week ago my family went Organic.
Whole Foods
Earth Fare
no artificial colors/flavors, High Fructoce Corn Syrup, etc.

We actually enjoy our food now. My teenager said those hamburgers the other night were the best she ever had. Yes, it was more expensive, but worth it!

That's my 'health care' insurance plan.

Got to edit:
Found a brand of grocery item that stores sell....don't have to go to an organic store to get it:

If you have a Trader Joe's near you, most likely you will spend LESS and be able to get better food

I spend around 60-70 a week for my family of four at Trader Joe's.. it's awesome!
