Do you like airplane food? People have always ranted and raved about how "inedible" and terrible it is but personally I've always kind of liked it. I mean, granted, I agree that the quality has degraded over the years from budget cuts but every time we fly overseas, United manages to serve a fairly hearty meal. The last one I had was stuffed shells and sauce, salad, roll, fruit cup, and a really freaking delicious and rich chocolate mousse cake---not too bad for a meal, imo!

Long ago, American used to have pretty good food...now the last couple times I have flown there was NO food at all. That was on flights between Orlando and Dallas.

When we flew from Dallas to London the food was good.

Now a days, I always pack food to take along.

I have always get that little thrill when they start serving the food. One thing I do like is that the salads are usually very dry and crisp. The food is just mediocre but it's something to do and there's something neat about eating on a plane. I guess it's from when I was a kid, in the days before deregulation, and flying was exciting and actually pleasurable. We actually used to get dressed-up to fly! Amazes me now.

by the time my plate arrives, I am usually so hungry I can overlook the dried out chicken and warm salad. But the veggies are usually pretty good.

I was going to ask who still serves meals, but I see they were over seas flights. I think we may still serve 1st class meals but not in domestic coach.
I love the Cape Cod chips, and butter cookies. I miss the peanuts and cashews. I can't stand pretzels and snack mix.

Years ago we pigged out on ribs and grilled chicken. That has all changed now.
The one thing that has never changed, is our unwritten rule. Eat anything you want from the airplanes, but never ever touch the booze. That will get you a one way trip out the door, and you may possibly get your fingers broken by fellow employees.

I don't mind it too much I guess. Most times now it's just pasta, either with or without meat. I am one of those annoying people that orders a kosher meal or a fruit plate just so i can get served first. I do tend to pack a lot of my own snacks though like finger foods and snack bars. Grapes and bananas and apples come to mind. Mmmm. And don't forget the chocolate.

Nothing in the way of real food...stay away from the "AVIATION PICKLES' when flying to China...

But we had some very yummy ginger-bread-like cookies on Air Tran a few months ago.
