I heart MSG.

Usually, I pack dishes with enough ingredients that are loaded with natural glutamates that I don't need or want the powder, but I'm not opposed to it, for sure.

Even though there's nothing inherently unhealthy about the stuff, some poor souls do have an actual sensitivity to it (apparently they get headaches and hives). I'm glad that I don't, 'cause it's DELICIOUS.

I love putting Accent on my popcorn. For years I avoided it because I heard MSG was bad for you. Then I saw this article:

Is MSG Bad for You? | Yale Scientific Magazine

Now I'm enjoying my popcorn (and some other stuff) with Accent again!!

I use MSG powder in fried rice. It adds a certain taste that can't really be defined, but it turns a rather plain dish into something delicious.

It's called umami

My Japanese grandmother used to keep a shaker full of this stuff. She cooked allot of American/Southern food but found it rather bland so was always dashing it in there. I never quite understood why her and my dad's mashed potatoes always tasted so amazing till I figured that out.

I don't mind MSG (though I won't go out of my way to find it either). Wish I could have soy again though. I miss its umami at times though I have found many ways to get around it.

I stay away from it the best I can (don't add it) and request restaurants not to add it.
