I love black licorice but now I can do without. Someone told me in past the candy companys that make Licorice put rubber in the candy and now this will for sure make me not eat so much.

American "licorice" today is basically just sugar, black coloring, and artificial flavorings. Errrkkk.
Look for European licorice, which not only has no rubber, or lead, but actually uses real licorice root flavor.
And here's a different take on licorice candy... Salty Licorice Fish from Sweden...
Oh whew, bought the strawberry last time. I grab a couple every now and then. It stays fresh in those air-lock containers. Don't remember the brand name 'Red Vine' though. Will have to go back and look tonight, if I still remember by the time I get home. 7+ hours from now.
It's little known but....."Black Licorice: Dangerous Candy". Yep, in fact it's deadly if ya eat more than 2 oz.
"Eat too much candy and you’ll be sorry. Eat too much black licorice, and you could be dead.
This creepy Halloween warning comes from the FDA. Too much black licorice, the federal agency says, can lead to “abnormal heart rhythms, as well as high blood pressure, edema (swelling), lethargy, and congestive heart failure.”
"Many “licorice” or “licorice flavor” products manufactured in the United States do not contain any licorice. Instead, they contain anise oil, which has the same smell and taste. "
So read the label before you eat any of this candy.

Stop. Think. If that were true it would be yanked off the market soooooooooooooo fast!
Seriously, you need to read ALL the words. carefully read the entire article linked to and see what it actually says:
"The FDA warns people age 40 and older not to eat 2 ounces of black licorice a day for two weeks or more."
So, first of all, 2 oz. is a lot of black licorice. Like most adults I know, a piece or two at a time is plenty, especially if it is REAL licorice, which most US candy is not.
Second, to eat 2 oz. a day of real black licorice for two weeks straight would take a level of commitment I think few adults could muster. And you wouldn't just approach the edge of an invisible cliff and then fall over it unexpectedly... you'd have physical sensations much earlier if you were overstressing your body with too much glycrrhizin, the active ingredient.
Are there concerns about real licorice, a traditional healing agent? Yes, so be fully informed if you use herbal licorice, especially if you are a pregnant woman or a patient having surgery in the near future.
This is a downer for licorice lovers. For me, it really doesn't matter, I cannot stand the taste of black licorice.
well I love it but just don't eat it often anymore: I can assure everyone, if I did i would probably buy whatever brand, produced whereever and not get overly worried about this. If we all listened to all the alarmist around, we would not leave our homes, we would only eat produce we had grown and prepared from scratch, we would not drink milk or buy cheese products, we would lay awake all night worrying about what might happen tomorrow and we would be totally miserable......
