Cilantro can be used in place of basil in a pesto. I think if I were to try that, I would cut it with some Italian parsley.

I use it a lot in Thai foods, like curry.

Cilantro replacing basil in pesto sounds just terrible to me.

The coriander plant produces an exotic mix of flavors when you consider the fruit, leaves and roots all have a different flavor profile. I absolutely love these herbs and spices in Mediterranean, Latin and Asian cooking.

I am so glad I don't have the chemical taste aversion to the flavors of this unique plant.
