Okay, from the gist of what I'm getting here, it was still a soup, no matter how big the pieces were, because of the quantity of liquid--and that liquid was thin and runny, not thicker, like a gravy.
I usually start out with the intention of making soup, but it always seems to end up thick and stew-like. Maybe that's because I like to add rice or barley and tons of vegetables.
