We use them because albacore tuna can have 40 times more mercury in the meat than sardines and sardines are higher in the good omegas.
Once you start using these types of sardines in place of tuna, you will never go back to tuna again, it will seem flavorless.
Yep, you are right about the mercury, (and omegas), rickers..... I buy him cans of white tuna packed in water, but he doesn't eat it often......

He also takes the fish oil pills for omega-3, but the non-burp kind......

I'm not a big fan of sardines. I very occasionally eat them on rye toast with mustard and a thin slice of onion. I smell GREAT after that! lol

Anchovies are FANTASTIC as an ingredient! If you use/cook them right in foods there is no fishy taste at all, just a salty, nutty undertone.

Guys/Gals,
Something just came up when i thought about eating sardines. Should i be concerned about mercury when it comes to sardines? I heard that tuna has quite a bit of it, but not sure about sardines. Please educate me on this. Thanks.

I was at Walmart yesterday and they seem to have taken King Oscar off their shelves now....are they not selling them anymore? The sales lady didn't have a clue...they do still carry Crown Prince though.

Personally, I like all sardines, especially those packed in mustard sauce.

However, NOTHING beats FRESH sardines grilled, as I have had in Portuguese restaurants near New Bedford, MA.

Love sardines. Those with skin and bones. In olive oil
They are so nutritious!

My favourite brand for all fish products is Vital Choice ( Sardines in Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil 4-3/8 oz - Spiced ). I also like the lightly smoked sardines from Wild Planet.

Beach Cliff brand sardines - I think they've gone out of business.

Hot sauce & vinegared onions on top.... Yum!
