We have the tradition of eating Cherry Pie on George Washington's birthday, maybe we should expand that practice, to eat the favorite foods of other celebrities on their birthdays. Like, grilled banana and peanut butter sandwiches on Elvis' birthday.

A few others could be Broccoli, on the birthday of George H W Bush, who refused to serve it on the White House menu. And Ketchup on Ronald Reagan's birthday---his administration classified ketchup a veggie on school lunch menus. And you could go to the hospital for a Barium Meal on Lawrence Durrell's birthday---he called it the best cuisine in London (that was before the Indians came). LA Dodgers manager Tom Lasorda's birthday could be Pasta Day.

Anyone have any more suggestions of famous foods to honor famous people?

Well, I'm certainly not a celebrity (outside of my own mind, of course ) but today IS my birthday.

Rather than "forcing" you to eat MY favorite food, I hope that everyone will celebrate with me today, and eat YOUR own favorite food... and ENJOY it immensely!

Great post. I'm having fish pan fried with malt vinegar. In your honor of course.. If you could have waited to Monday we would have had BBQ brisket. And Happy Birthday, same me some cake or pie as the case might be.

Jelly Bellies for Ronald Reagan. We visit the factory every year. He made them an overnight success.
Government Cheese to celebrate Karl Marx and the food shortages of Communist countries.

Twinkies, for the birthday (9-2) of Dan White, who used the Twinkie Defense to escape punishment for murdering Harvey Milk.

One of the few areas of common ground I can share with a Bush is my complete and utter hate of broccoli.
