I'm more of a Quik person myself, but I was craving Hershey syrup the other day so I bought a bottle.
But I made a glass of chocolate milk and quickly realized that something wasn't right - It didn't mix as smoothly as it did when I was a kid. Large chunks of the syrup settled at the bottom of the glass.
Have they changed the recipe? It tastes much like it did 20 years ago, but something's different.

It seems the same to me but I've only been on the earth 19 years (20 in a few days ).
I'm an Ovaltine fan myself.

I never had that problem and I use Hershey's as well as Quik. Check the expiration date, even though I am not sure that these types of things ever expire. As we get older, things seem to change, and sometimes it just tastes better when mom makes it.

I would suggest one of two possible reasons:
As a previous poster said, check the expiration date, OR
were you mixing the syrup into "No Fat" milk?
Hershey's Syrup is essentially a fat or oil. Milk is essentially water. Unless there is fat in your milk, 1%, 2%, or Whole, you are mixing oil and water and the result just isn't the best. The chocolate syrup needs to bind with the milk fat to give you that smooth velvety texture. And since you were comparing the results to what it was like when you were a kid, there's probably a high likelihood that you have stepped down from Whole or 2%, to 1% or 0% fat milk.
FYI: To prove my bonafides, I buy the Hersheys by the 8 lb can.

Ah... the girlfriend made me buy (gasp!) 1% milk this time. I'm a whole milk guy. Perhaps that explains it.
Exp. date is fine. Just bought the stuff.

Ideally, in a perfect world, I prefer Bosco.
But ain't nothing wrong with Hershey's! I am not a chocolate syrup bigot.
