I have an 05 Ford Escape automatic 4x4 and occasionally I will hear a "clunk" when the car shifts. I also get this rumbling sound that lasts for only a few seconds. It sounds just like running over a rumble strip in the road. Today it did that right at 48mph. I have 87k on it and changed the transmission fluid at 68k. The manual recommends changing tranny fluid every 30k.
I went to a Ford dealer that they want $100 just to look at it. Mr. Transmission will give me a free estimate.

I have 2010 Escape 4x4 automatic shift which makes a noise similar to what you hear when you slow down and fail to change the gear to a higher one in the manual shift
