Hello all! I am from San Diego California and I'm a VA buyer. Recently I bid on a house and was told there are 3 other offers and I needed to submit my best and final offer. The asking price of this house is 339,500. If I need the seller to pay the closing costs should I offer a good deal above asking? I ended up offering 345,000. Are my chances pretty slim since I'm a VA buyer?

We don't have enough info to help you. You should be reviewing your offer with your agent and any possible final offer strategy. You should be more concerned about the market value of the house and not the asking price. Is $339,500 high or low compared to other recent comparable sales? Also, you need to be aware of your local market conditions and how that may influence your strategy. For example, are homes in this price range selling quickly, or do they sit for long time?

As a VA buyer, you may be at a disadvantage compared to a cash or conventional loan buyer. All depends on the overall terms of the various offers.
