I live in MD, and was interested in looking for Notices of Default (Pre-foreclosure) in PG county. I called the County clerk to find out more that is if they make them available online. The lady told me that they don't keep any list or information. They just have case numbers that are given to a trustee.
I am not sure if this is correct. How come the county office has no information on it. Could this be possible, further if there is no info present then how come paid online sites are able to publish this information. I am confused...pls assist....Thanks.

Much of this work is done manually by people. And they are paid. That is why the web sites charge you for this info. Much of this info is found by public records that are recorded at the county such as Notices of default, lis pendens, notice of sales, etc.

Its possible someone in your area goes to the country registry, in person, once a week to review the files each week before they are scanned and cataloged and forwards that info to the foreclosure web sites for payment.

I am a realtor in Va and I do not pay for the list. My advice to you is to find a CDPE agent in Md and have them to help you. I am a CDPE and I find all of my listings on the internet that are in preforeclosure. It is so easy your agent has to know where to go and be creative for you. Good luck
I do not use the county for my researches and PG County has tons of preforeclosure listings. I wish I was licensed in Maryland so that I could help folks
