A neighbor's home recently went to a foreclosure auction and was bought by the plaintiff (Bank of America). I'm wondering how long before the owner is served notice and vacate the property. No one lives there, the last tenant moved out months ago. It seemed the owner may have been served vacate notice prior, because they came out a few weeks before the sale and took several things, including removing the fence. They also removed air conditioning units from the walls leaving unsecured openings. Possibly animals are entering through the holes and could become a nuisance?

Can/will the owner come back, and how long will it take for the bank to secure the property and clean it? Hoping they come soon to block openings and trim overgrown bushes. Lots of debris left in the yard.

In most cases the bank, or whomever purchased it, will secure the home in a matter of days. They often have a crew come out to secure the property before the auction IF they know that the seller has abandoned it.

The crew will usually change locks, do a cursory clean up and work up a property conditions report. If something major is needed they will schedule the repair.

The bank put it up for auction, and they were the highest bidder, so nothing really happened. Expect the property to be secured and listed for sale with a realtor in 7 days or 7 years. Sorry, not the answer you were expecting.

When this happened to a home in our area back in 2009, the bank did nothing until the city came out and posted a notice to clean it up or they would do it and charge the owner (bank). When the bank did "clean it up" they sold it "as is" and the new owners had to spend about $20,000 before moving in to replace the missing fixtures and appliances, and repair the vindictive damage done by the foreclosed owners.

there is some new law about the original owners retrieving their homes after BK--but I think it is costly.

Well last week someone came out and changed the locks and put papers on the door with emergency numbers and a real estate agent's name. Then yesterday a man came out and started moving junk out of the house (what was left). He seemed to have a clean up service. So maybe things will move forward faster than imagined.
