Hi there!
I am trying to find properties for short sale and forclosure in Chicago, what resource do I use? is it the same zillow and redfin or there are some other listings?

Also, is there a discussion forum/message board for local realtors/real estate agents where they discuss forclosured properties? I remember there was a resource like this a few years ago. Does it exist now?

Thank you

Your best bet is to engage a Realtor to set you up with an MLS search, with appropriate filters for your needs. Zillow and Redfin did have an awful lag time. If you are willing to cross state lines, get an agent in that state, too.

It's tough going right now for investors. Be prepared to be up against cash. Also, go talk to your local courthouse and find out when and where their real estate auctions occur. The problem with this is many times you are buying untested, uninspected properties. Someone bought a foreclosure in our neighborhood. To their surprise, they have a few colonies of bats, above ground termites (not indigenous to our area), needs a new roof, and windows needed. And that's before they even start.

Not trying to discourage you, I have multiple investors in the wings going no where fast, but I am in a strong market. Your mileage may vary.
