I have the opportunity to put hurricane windows in my condo at a reduced bulk rate. Will this increase the value of my condo? Benefits? H O Insurance rates dropping maybe. Of course I know, hurricane protection. Yay. A major plus. But value?

Thanks.

The consensus seems to be yes.

Though I'm sure that window sellers would say so.

Your insurance agent can tell you if there is any discount available.

The flip side is if the majority of units have them and yo do not, your value could fall.

Does your hoa cover master insurance? There is a ton of mark-up in windows.

I don't know condos but don't the windows belong to the outside of the structure and isn't it part of the building and it's covered under HOA? Your private insurance covers the inside. Usually you don't have a say when windows are replaced if it's a building as all have to look the same, but I'm guessing. Strong shutters are better than impact windows. An impact window can still crack and need to be replaced. If I lived in a high floor condo and a storm was coming I would board it from the inside so the part you are responsible for isn't affected.
