Any retirees living in this community? I'd love your perspective - what do you like, what do you dislike, what made you choose this community over others?
We were going to move to the west coast of FL next year but now, with 150 million gallons of oil in the Gulf, we're focusing on the Ft Collins area. What is it like to be retired in such a youth-oriented area? We want to play golf and do things during the day and do it with other people who have the time during the day to be active.
Thanks for your input.

I can't speak to Water Valley specifically, although I do love playing Pelican Lakes course. I know there are some patio home (aka "zero lot line") houses there so I assume there are more than a few retirees. You might also check out places on or around;

Ptarmigan Country Club-patio homes from mid $200K to mid $300K.
Highland Meadows-there are some patio homes and I think they're mostly in the $500K range.

Ute Creek golf course in Longmont-several sets of patio homes along the course so I'm guessing retiree owned.

Southridge and Collindale courses in Ft. Collins-some patio homes near both of them.

Marianna Butte in Loveland-several patio homes and some 4-plexes.

I know retirees who live on or very near all of these courses. While there is a good mix of young and old I know there are seniors groups at most.

I mentioned the patio homes specifically because they're mostly owned by retirees, low maintenance cuts down on your yard work, more time on the fairways.

All of the munis listed have competitive senior's green fees. I think I pay about $25-$27 at the Ft Collins courses, but I think city residents can get a discount pass. In Loveland you can buy an annual pass ($550) and play The Olde Course for $6.00. There is a waiting list for the Marianna Butte passes.

I know two younger couples that live in Water Valley and they like it, but they're renters not owners.

Good luck and let me know when you're ready to tee em up.
