I know its probably hard to say, but Im currently unemployed, collecting unemployment, and Im wondering about the Job market in FC? I have experience in customer service and the cellular market and was wondering about those job markets in Fort Collins?

I wouldn't be opposed to working at a place like target or walmart if push came to shove, would that even be an option? Ill be coming out to visit in early December to look at some apartments and get a feel for the area.

I just feel like I would stand an infinitely better chance of landing a job pertaining to my degree (environmental, sustainability) if I move out there first, also while collecting unemployment to give me a financial cushion during the search.

Yes, Target and Walmart could be options. They definitely have a presence in Fort Collins. Where would you go about looking for a job related to your degree?

If you have GIS skills, you might want to join the GIS Colorado mailing list.
Also, there is a chapter of URISA here, which is more of a planning group, but still, they may have leads for environmental-type jobs.

Keep in mind that Fort Collins is a college town with a lot of folk there with degrees who are willing to stay there at any cost. The competition for the available jobs is pretty fierce ... even jobs that don't require a degree have a lot of degree'd people applying just so they can have an income.

Absent a specific niche specialty that you have in your resume/experience, don't expect to readily find a job, let alone a good paying professional job.
