As much as we enjoy Fort Collins from May to October, my wife and I seriously struggle with what to do for the remaining 6 months. We don't have kids, so no school programs, and it gets pretty cool outside and quite brown. We travel south a few times and get in a beach fix, but honestly are wondering if there is something or someplace that we are missing for this 1/2 of the year. We ski a little, but are hoping for something a little more convenient. Anything would help!

In the winter, we spend a ton of time outdoors biking and hiking, or on snowier days snowshoeing and XC skiing either in town or in Lory State Park or up the canyon. On days too cold to be outdoors, some of our favorite activities (with or without the kids) include:

Climbing
Inner Strength Rock Gym - Premier Rock Climbing Gym in Fort Collins, Colorado
Miramont Lifestyle Fitness

Bowling
Chippers Lanes - Bowling Alley in Fort Collins, Loveland, Broomfield and Boulder, CO

Swimming
Edora Pool Ice Center (EPIC): City of Fort Collins
Mulberry Pool: City of Fort Collins
City of Loveland, CO : Chilson Recreation Center (Loveland)

Lazer Tag / Amusements
Welcome to Fort Fun
Loveland Laser Tag Fun Center (Loveland)

Hockey Games
Colorado Eagles

Seeing various shows and concerts
The Fort Collins Colorado Lincoln Center
lyriccinemacafe.com
Midtown Arts Center - Entertainment
CANDLELIGHT DINNER PLAYHOUSE | Exceptional Dining. Exceptional Theater.
Bas Bleu Theatre Company
Cinemark - Theatre Detail - Cinemark Fort Collins

or hanging out at one of the many coffee shops, restaurants, or book stores in town, or even one of the 3 public libraries. If it is too bad out, we will stay home and play board games or read in front of the fire, or watch movies and play video games.

Having spent the better part or the last 45 years in Colorado, we rarely find ourselves bored, no matter the time of year.

Hope these suggestions help you keep your sanity. If not, Florida for the winter and Colorado for the summer might be a good option.

I'm not sure your age but we are a 30'ish couple so our choices are geared more towards our age. Feel free to use what you can and discard the rest.

Have you checked out the Recreator for winter activities? They always have a bunch of adult classes/activities. Also local restaurants for classes (my daughter and I took a sushi making class at one)?

I, also, love the Colorado Eagles (we are new season ticket holders)! Now that they're ECHL I can't wait to see them play! Tickets to their games can be had for a reasonable price. We got four second row tickets to a game for well below ticket price on Craigslist. You can always find a ton there for around 20 bucks a seat.

Horse back riding lessons, even in winter are fun!

There is Scene Magazine (I can't direct link it) but if you look it up online or pick up one in a local store there is always a list of events and a section called "Cheap Dates" where it lists the various ongoing weekly specials around town.

If you like Electronic music, the Abbey Theater has monthly raves with free admission. Estes Park, this weekend, is going to have a Scottish Festival we're going to check out.

We love catching an early breakfast (especially after an Colorado Eagles win because Perkins has free breakfast if they win the next morning) and then hitting up the flea markets or garage sales.

The indoor pools linked earlier are a nice break as well and we really enjoy the skating rink (both the roller skating one and the ice skating one). It makes us feel like giggly teenagers again. If you're into roller derby those ladies are worth paying to watch (they're vicious)!

I also found a site that I can't link (don't want to break the rules) called 365thingstodofortcollins that gave me some ideas.

Oh! Hopefully they'll put the ice skating rink in Old Town again this year. Last year the city hired carolers and placed moving pianos around the town (where people could sit down and play these beautifully painted works of art). Hands down one of the best memories since moving here. We went every weekend to Old Town because it was so much fun. We listened to the carolers sing requested songs, ice skated, and even had the luck of a young man who attended CSU and was could play sit at the piano that was next to the rink and play Christmas songs. On one evening we drove around looking at the various free light displays by local homes/companies (there's a list online but I don't recall the site off the top of my head, it was posted by the city though).

Good luck!
