Winter Weather in Fort Collins vs Colorado Springs (Denver: to live in, cities)

Which has the colder winter

It's pretty much a push. Fort Collins is further north, but it's also a full 1000 feet lower in elevation than the Springs.

Glancing at C-D's temp graphs for both cities shows that Fort Collins is slightly colder at night but slightly warmer during the day.

I would say the Fort has a little bit harsher winters. Winter of 07-08 was a great example (though not completely normal), with the Fort having high levels of snow on the ground for almost months at a time, while the springs had the typical a few days of snow and then all melts/blows away. In my experience the fort is just likely to get more accumulation of snow that sticks around for a bit. The fort was also more likely to get big dumps of 12in+.

Neither is particularly bad though (compared to the midwest, etc.).

Temp.-wise the fort will be a little colder, by at least a few degrees most of the time.

Both of these articles have a nice weather graph from NOAA. COS gets less snow. Temps are similar.

Both are probably colder than Denver, but I'd imagine that foco is a bit colder than the springs. But whatever would possess someone to want to live in the springs is beyond me.
