Hello I received a speeding ticket in a school zone and want to know how to get out of it. I was on my way to work, was in a 30 zone and put my brakes on BEFORE I came to the school zone. The officer was sitting at a stop sign right before the school zone and clocked me @ 32, again outside the school zone in the 30 area. I have taken pictures of were the police officer was sitting and had a least 15-20FT to slow down, the police officer has video. Can anyone help? thanks.

You go to court, dress nicely, be respectful to the judge and to the police officer. Present your case in a factual manner and hope for the best.

In some courts you talk with the prosecuting attorney before going before the judge, and he/she can present you with an option of a reduced charge which will result in a smaller fine and fewer points on your license. However, speeding in a school zone is pretty serious and they may not be willing to negotiate.

I haven't been to court in Ft. Collins; merely speaking from experience with other municipal courts. Was the ticket issued by a city officer or county sheriff?

Which school zone? They do tend to take those seriously.
