I just happened to stumble across this news story. Fort Collins seems to be a politically moderate area, but this looks like a Fox News/Tea Party-inspired kerfuffle. Looks like much ado over nothing. Is this really a big story in Fort Collins or is it being overblown by the media?

Why would anyone want to every waste time with anything related to Faux "news"? They need to be completely ignored as though they don't exist.

As for "Merica Day" - whatever that is - I've never heard of it before. It must not be a big story in town afterall. Just another example of the distortions that often come across on the Internet (trying to stir people up, blowing things out of proportion, etc.)

Thanks, Sunderpig. That's what I thought. Another phony Faux News story. However, the local paper there seemed to jump on the story as well as if it was some big controversy raging in Fort Collins.

Apparently, it has made national news.

I heard about it on the NBC news report at the top of the hour while listening to Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz this morning.

They interviewed some moronic high school student who was bitching that his "constitutional rights as an American were being violated" because the school decided to change the name from "Merica Day" to "America Day".

It does seem to be about some Tea Party types attempting to stir up a load of xenophobic and racial crap, as only they know how to do.

I'm sure their parents are so proud of these future leaders of America.

God forbid.
