I am seriously considering moving to Fort Collins Co. I am however concerned about available social work positions doing therapy and the pay scale. We will be moving from Albuquerque New Mexico so the cost of living will be higher there. I need to know whether the pay is enough to not be struggling. I have my LMSW and will soon have my clinical license. I have a lot of experience working with adolscents and would like to continue to work with the same age group. Any info would be appreciated.

An extremely competitive job market. There have been discussions of this before. You could do a search and find out what others had to say. I seem to recall reading about SWs working as waitresses, etc.

I am also in FC and I agree with pittnurse - part of the problem is that CSU has a social worker program......

I would check with The Hub in Fort Collins, and Platte Valley in Greeley. They are both Juvi Detention places and I see them advertise jobs every now and then. They could probably be more helpful to you since they are in the field.

In my experience, most jobs in this field in FortC have many far more qualified and experienced applicants than you. There's a lot of MSW required level jobs getting applications from PhD's ... willing to work for mid $30,000 salaries w/benefits. A BS in this field almost isn't worth the paper it's printed on in FortC and surrounds.
