Yes, but not as big of problem as bigger cities.

Ft Collins purposes to have shelters / alternatives, so there are not a lot of transients living in parks and on the streets.

Winter helps! (keep the streets clean)

Are the local government officials doing anything about the problem?

From coastal FL? Be prepared for a big change, especially extreme dryness and a lack of deep greens and shaded lushness.

Um. Yes, I've been there and considered that. Florida has its issues too, believe me.

Heat with humidity gets really old. Florida traffic problems are way worse too. I laugh every time a Coloradian talks about bad traffic.

Hurricanes? They suck.

Even without a hurricane, we can get 10 or more inches of rain within 12 hours that floods streets and buildings. This is a regular thing.

Back around 2009 we had a guy on here who moved to Monument, CO from Florida. He saved a fortune in property taxes and homeowner's insurance. IIRC the savings were about $9k/year for him, especially since he didn't have any hurricane risk on his policy.

Monument is much smaller than Ft Collins as a whole although it is growing too as those that are doing the commute into Denver each day are looking South for somewhat more affordable pricing. Transient wise I would say Ft Collins probably has more, due to the city sizes and the fact that Ft Collins has a denser population. However, there are a lot fewer Transients still than the Denver area and just North of Denver.
