I just relocated to Fort Collins from SoCal where I was addicted to Trader Joe's - an inexpensive and (in my opinion) generally awesome organic grocery/food stores. I checked out a few places in FC like Whole Foods, and Sunflower Market but they seemed to me to be a bit pricier. What stores do you guys like? I loved the ready to eat packaged salads at Trader Joe's .. any good stores you can get those here in FC?

Any comments/suggestions are appreciated

I go to Whole Foods once in awhile but I agree that they are pricey. There is a new place right off of Harmony and Timberline by the 24 hour fitness, I am not sure what it is called and have not been there yet. I think it is a health food restaurant but not sure. You might want to check it out.

Additionally, there is a Vitamin Cottage at 4318 S. College Ave (just north of Harmony). We used to have Wild Oats, but it was purchased (destroyed ?) by the Whole Foods monster.

I will second your request for a Trader Joe's here in FC. It would be a great addition.

Safeway also sells organics. It is not hard to find organic food around here.

I've started to frequent vitamin cottage .. it's got a great feel and awesome prices on interesting food items. Not a big fan of sunflower market - good for fresh produce but overpriced in other areas.

Trader Joe's has terrible produce. Otherwise I love the store.

Vitamin Cottage is a great place though. I know friends that used to frequent there.

You've all forgot about Sprouts! Sprouts is kind of like a nicer version of Sunflower, with better produce and meat (my opinion). The store is brand new, and the people are great. It is WAY cheaper than Whole Foods, and unless you are super-hardcore, you should be able to find what you need.
