Ok, so my family is a mixed race family. White/Black. What kind of attitude could we expect from this area? We have children from 13 down to 4. Originally from Alabama, so nothing will be surprising.

Well I'm not too familiar with Greeley however I can't think of too many places where a family like yours wouldn't be welcome (Boulder comes to mind as one possibility but they've got their own issues).

Chrystal,

My wife and I (she's black, I'm white, happily married for ten years with a beautiful 7-year-old mixed-race daughter) have visited Denver, Fort Collins, Boulder and many ski areas in Summit County over the last 11 years and we have never encountered any racial issues (the "glare," the stare, et al). Coloradoans are a diverse group of wonderful, healthy people and, although we've never been to Greeley, we can't imagine a lot of hate their either.

We hope you and your family find happiness in Greeley or wherever.

It's true that Coloradoans will generally leave you be. You won't find anything in the way of visible hate, discrimination.

However it is incorrect to say Colorado is a "diverse group." It is not. It is mostly white. And When you get outside Denver, it is 95% white, 5% hispanic, and 0 blacks.

Although you will not find discrimination, neither will you find any blacks or other mixed couples.

Why would you single out Boulder as a possible place that wouldn't be welcoming of a mixed race family?

My family an I just moved here an if your family is as diverse as mine Greeley might not be the place, try Fortcollins you will like it more diverse because the collages are here everyone is so nice,Dever has alot as far as jobs the crime is high,Bolder is more high upperclass,Colo.Springs is very diverse, but it has got crazy alot of building an the crime has gotten bad in some parts Windsor is nice,I had a lady tell me she is Latino an she don't go to Greeley,I think it is cheaper an people say bad things because there are alot of spanish an they have a factory (meat package etc.) but the people have been nice to us everyone I know it sounds crazy, but they have been nice to us now if I can get use to all the snow (smile)

I don't think you will have a problem in Greeley. I have been here 14 years. There is a very large Hispanic population here, due to migrant farm jobs and Meat Packing. However, The has been a recent influx of East Africans due to Immigration issues with the Hispanics.
I have been to Alabama and I think you will be much more accepted here. Greeley is also a lot cheaper than Fort Collins, Windsor and other surrounding towns

Does this mean that it's a place where q=white supremists live .... groups like White Power USA. I've heard there's a resurgence in some states. I like to live in a mixed culture society but crime is also a factor.
