Lucilles is OUTSTANDING -- mostly Cajun/creole, but they do serve a variety of "southern" items as well. They would definitely serve both grits and sweet tea as well.

As for sweet tea, it's not universal as we're far from the south, but there's a fair number of country/southern type restaurants that will serve it, along with grits. Surprisingly enough, McDonald's serves sweet tea, too, and it's actually okay.

OK, because I apparently have very deep rooted blonde roots, I can't figure out how to start a new thread so I am going to just keep on with this one. My son and I are leaving this weekend to fly out to visit all of y'all. Is there any part of Loveland that we should avoid while we are out loafing around? I mean is there a wrong side of the tracks? Also, is there any good places that we can visit that will give us a real sense of the area?

When you're on a forum, there's a big button on the top left that says "New Thread". It's where the top left "Post Reply" button is when you are looking at an individual thread.

However, in this case, replying to your previous thread might be better than starting a new one.

Although I am not overly familiar with Loveland, I would say there are no parts where strangers aren't welcome. I would also say that every part of Loveland is real, so every part of Loveland will give you a "real feel" for what that part of Loveland is like. It's not a huge town, and it doesn't really have any touristy/fake parts that I know of.

Will you have a rental car ? If so, then you could check out Fort Collins and/or Longmont as well, which also don't have any areas I'm aware of where visitors shouldn't hang out. The Lucille's restaurant they are talking about is in Fort Collins.

Yes, I have reserved a rental car. We are going to try skiing on Sunday. I might be back to find out where there is a good chiropractor by the time we get done. :} I am definitely planning to go to Lucille's.
Thanks for the feedback. Can't wait to get there.

Well, I am on day 2 of being here and it is just great. It feels very familiar. I have met some of the nicest and most friendly people. I do have to say I have also seen some of the dirtiest cars ever. I can't even imagine driving a car as nasty as some of these that I have seen. Can anyone recommend something special we could do on our last night here? Our days have been very busy, but come nightfall we are just like, well now what.

Glad you are enjoying our home. Sorry for the tardy reply. If you have not yet left, you might consider a nice dinner in Old Town Fort Collins, followed by some ice cream at Walrus or Kilwins, a walk around to the different shops, and an independent movie at the Lyric Cinema Cafe. Another option is a nice sunset hike at Horsetooth Reservoir.

Thanks Mike, but we are back in GA now. Do have one question about Greeley...What in the world makes that town STINK so badly? We decided to drive over there on Tuesday and we couldn't get out fast enough. My son and I both were gagging it was so bad. I have no idea how people live in that town. We did however just love Loveland.

It's that large grits factory outside of town.
