I feel like we've been in a perpetual drought since 1998. It used to rain in the summer in FL every day during the mid-late afternoon. Since 1998, it seems to rain once a week or so. Believe me, this is good news for me since I like to be outdoors. But it doesn't bode well for healthy vegetation.

It's day after day of mid 90's and sunshine and never any rain. Had 4 days of rain since May. Like i said in the spring , this would be a record dry summer and record heat for my area anyway.
I noticed that living on the Gulf side as well - the ocean breezes are very light compared to the Atlantic. Lately, I've been feeling ill every time I go out in the heat for more than just a walk to and from the car. Not sure what that's about, but Im starting to think I need to live in the mountains.

Besides, you guys in Maryland are complaining about the 1 week of hot weather you get each year. We get that from May to November, unrelenting.

Houston and New Orleans give South Florida plenty of competition on the heat and humidity factor .... in fact Houston may be worse between June and September

You must be looking at a different map. What's the time stamp?

This is my 3rd summer in S. Florida. With better conditioning, I found the heat and humidity more tolerable than before. I have less problem being outside around noon.

New Orleans gets hotter than S. FL sometimes, but the humidity is not as bad. Tallahassee is often 5-10 degrees hotter than South FL during the summer, but the humidity is not as bad. South FL typically stays between 85-95 whereas New Orleans, Tallahassee, and other parts of the South reach more like 99-105. But the humidity is worse down here.

No, I haven't been to Houston at all. A lot of places are supposedly hotter than South FL in the summer. According to most on this board, South FL is the coolest place outside of Alaska in the summer. But we are hotter for a much longer period of the year and have worse humidity.
