I just got a great job in Ft. Lauderdale, and have rented a cool place in Lauderdale By The Sea. I didn't expect to only have one week to move, so I am really happy to have found a nice place without a long term lease. It will just be my husband and me with our 2 small dogs, so schools aren't a concern at this point. My office is downtown, and I will be starting work at 7 everyday, so I'm not too concerned about traffic. I guess my question is this: What are the "cons" (if there are any) of Lauderdale By The Sea? I have searched the net, but everything I have read has been very positive. I just want to be as prepared as I can be. Once our house up here sells, we'll be buying something, so we will start exploring areas more once we get there. My husband lived on Hollywood Beach for 10 years, but that was about 15 years ago, so things have changed. We know about the heat and humidity, and it isn't an issue for either of us. Any advice or information that you could give would be most appreciated!
Thanks!

CONGRATS! Lauderdale By The Sea...imo is a GREAT town, very beachy and everything you would want and expect living in So. Fl! As far as I'm concerned Fl is about the beach and you are right in the midst of things! Good luck!

Thanks! We live in the panhandle now, but right on the water. We're going to be across El Mar Drive from the beach, so although we won't have our unobstructed view, we'll still be right there. I agree with you that FL is all about the beach, so we didn't even look at places more than 3 blocks back!
