To add insult to injury, their Customer Service Dept. is telling us to call the networks and complain...like I have all the time in the world to do that. Isn't that their job? It's like a salesman telling you the customer to call the manufacturer if you don't get what you paid for.
Hello, Xfinity.

Apparently Scripps makes a habit of hijacking the cable companies - The following from Wiki-

From 31 December 2009 until 21 January 2010, Scripps did not allow Cablevision to distribute its Food Network and HGTV programming due to a contract dispute. During the period, both disputants carried on the dispute via television advertisements and nontraditional media, including social networks and Scripps new websites ilovefoodnetwork.com and ilovehgtv.com.

Looks like the channels are back on! I'm glad, but this has made me very mistrustful of AT&T.

raffeer-thanks for posting that, interesting!

*giggling at 912's comment*

WELLLLLLL....guess what? When I put on channel 450...HGTV is back, baby! It still says something else on the screen, different station and show...but it's HGTV! Same with FoodTV on channel 452. I am soooo happy! Looks like it worked out.

Thanks for commiserating with me, everyone!

The same situation occured a couple of weeks ago with Dish and fox. This is what happens when 5 big corporations own a dozen channels. They demand a huge fee increase for the channels they own and could care less about the garbage they show or how many times they show it. How many times can you possiblily watch the same program of how to make a wedding cake? [actually, how can you watch it even once] Then of course there is the quality programming like Bridezilla, House wives of [name a city] you've got channels like Bravo who aren't satisfied with 17 minutes every hour of advertising, they have huge pop up ads every 3 minutes. Can hardly wait to see the next rate increase to pay for all the quality TV we get. [last April was $3 a month increase]
