Please help. We are looking to buy in either Broward County or Palm Beach County, but do not know what the best (safe, better long term invesment) is. My family and I love Hollywood Beach, but know that it is not very safe in Hollywood. We want to purchase a home where my mother and father would live full time. My family and I would spend our holidays there. We want to make sure to choose a good safe neighborhood that is also a good investment. We would appreciate any help possible. Some people say Palm Beach is better then Broward??? If so where and why. We like the beach, we like to shop and love to eat out... Please help us choose. There are homes and townhouses for sales all over Broward County and Palm Beach and choosing is becoming impossible since we are not from Florida. Please, please, help.

Sky101-

Your question is tough to answer and very broad in scope. Its like asking "which stocks should I buy? Google, Yahoo, or Amazon? Or should I invest in bonds or cd's?"

I would start by deciding which area specifically of Palm Beach County are you interested in. PBC is very diverse and has its good and bad areas just like Broward County. You're really comparing apples and oranges since there is nowhere in Palm Beach County that is similar to Hollywood Beach.

In general, you cannot say that one county is "better" than the other. They each have their pro's and con's. Hollywood isn't the safest area, but not the worst either. It has unique architecture that you don't see in Palm Beach. The traffic in Palm Beach County is much better. Broward County gets daily backups on the freeways and Hollywood is very dense and congested. PBC is more spread out and has less people living per square mile. The crime is about even in both counties, but really depends in which specific area you're talking about.

Boca Raton, Jupiter, Wellington, The Gardens, Palm Beach itself this is a no brainer.... PBC is way better then Broward. Traffic can get bad in both areas and of course there is good and bad but overall PBC wins hands down. Broward is nice but you have to go west (Weston, Plantation, Parkland, exc.) Lauderdale and Hollywood are over priced traffic congested and trash bins.
