It's quite apperent both counties are intertwined. The question now becomes if Metrorail will be beneficial to both counties and have a taxing system like Tri Rail to support expansion?
I happen to think so

Definetely, no ! Mtrorail in Miami is anti aesthetic and eventually if that's comming to Broward county it will take lands and private property by "eminent domain".

Do you have a link to any articles re the proposed expansion? I wasn't aware, and I thought I was pretty up on mass transit issues. Thanks.

And since when did I-95 or the Turnpike become a vision of beauty??

I had a whole thought typed up here, but erased it. I need to think more about it before giving my 2 cents.

I would embrace ANY expansion in public transportation, instead of the lovely construction on 595 for a 1 futile taxed express lane that will be outdated before they finish.

Sierra there is no proposed expansion of Metrorail into Broward. I was just tossing the idea around to see what people think.

During the initial FEC track commuter study, one of the options they considered was building a Metrorail-stye line on it (instead of a ground-level heavy rail line like Tri-Rail). But, the cost (if I remember correctly was 2x any of the other options). Now, why would any study even consider such a thing? Because being elevated, Metrorail functions like a interstate highway, carrying many people and the elevation means it never has to stop for traffic, nor do automobiles have to stop for it. Ultimately, they said "no" a Metrorail-style train on the FEC tracks (going from Miami to West Palm). But, if this line gets really busy (and I believe it will), it makes sense for the future. 1/2 of Metrorail (Jackson Memorial south to Dadeland) now is really busy all the time; the other 1/2 (Jackson Memorial north to Palmetto rarely get packed).

I seems very unlikely to me from what I understand of the governing bodies in both counties. They can barely get things done separately much less through some sort of inter-county authority which would be required for the Metrorail to extend to Broward.
