I start a new job in Plantation on 3/14/11. We have been looking at rental homes, but our realtor keeps steering us toward Weston.

We put an offer in for a townhome, primarily because I need to find something quickly. But we don't really like it. It's smaller than we wanted and has no character or amenities.

With the rising gas prices, commuting from PSL to Plantation isn't something I want to do, even for a week or two.

We are looking for a SFH (will settle for a townhome) 3 bedrooms (will settle for 2), 1800 sf+, a pool would be nice.

Please recommend some nicer areas that would a reasonable commute to Plantation.

Why not just look in Plantation? Unless you have high school aged kids and need a top high school, it's a great place to live. Look at zip codes 33324 & 33325.

I agree with the above. Plantation is a great place to live. The high schools are not great but other than that it's fabulous. Most neighborhoods are really nice and you can find housing in a wide range of price ranges. You could also try Davie.
