Many areas have a lot of homes with guest cottages. These go usually for around $450 to maybe $600 a month. Since owners are on the property it is usually very safe. You could look in the Croissant park or even the Victoria park area. Wilton Manors as well has older homes with cottages. It was a popular thing years ago to build them years ago.

Check the website Rent.com. That is the easiest way to find rental communities in the area. Your best bet is Plantation, Davie, Coconut Creek, and Boca. There are a bunch of areas to avoid in the middle. Lauderhill, Lauderdale Lakes, North Lauderdale, East Plantation, Western Pompano Beach are all areas to avoid. Margate is iffy.
