Port Royale bad reviews on apartment ratings.com (rental, appliances)

I'm ready to move in the place and I decided to check online and I've read some VERY VERY harsh reviews.

My main concerns are how it is described like a total party/frat/kegger, let's vomit in the hallway and scream and fight in the middle of the night....

Bug infestations???

Safety for my wife, my pets, my belongings, cars.

Im 32 my wife is 27 and we have a Maltese.

Please...I need to make a decision ASAP and would REALLLLLLLY appreciate if I could ask someone some questions, get feedback.

I've seen a user NoleFan on here saying some seemingly positive things.
Please help!!!

Dear AdamSlack: There was a threat on Port Royale in 2010 wtih 7 or 8 replies on the quality of the complex. The consensus was mixed. Port Royale had its problems and its strong points. It is clear that you need to proceed knowing that it will not be heaven there, but there are many complexes that are worse. The question is whether you have the time and capacity to find a better one?

I have a friend who lives in Port Royale and he likes it. It is true that most residents are young people, mainly young professionals. The frat/kegger atmosphere is exaggerated. There are some parties and it does tend to be loud on Fri/Sat nights. The units are very small and the walls are thin. The buildings are bunched very close together. There are also a ton of dogs barking. It is like a kennel whenever I visit my friend. That said, the place is decent and affordable. It is also in a good location. It also has 3 swimming pools and 2 gyms I think.

Those apartment ratings are useless. EVERY apartment community gets bad ratings. That is because residents tend to be transient, they trash the place, so the appliances break down. And the management is usually bad at most places.

Well as long as I get approved, I'm going to try it out. We got a unit on the top floor so maybe that will help with noise, bugs etc.

I guess my biggest concern is will I be woken out of my sleep by loud music and partying??..

Every rental community gets negative reviews. Port Royale is no worse than the others. People who go to the trouble to post reviews usually are negative. They usually do so to complain. The few positive reviews are usually the apartment community staff, even though they're not supposed to. You cannot rely on reviews to make an informed decision. You have to actually visit.

this place was party central back in the 90s and early 2000s. Many of the strippers from the pompano clubs lived there amongst other wild party girls and guys. This was back when requirements to get an apt were less strict. The pool scene on weekends was epic and would blow the mind of unsuspecting high moraled transients. imagine girls gone wild on steroids and then some. It is nothing like this now, you must show deccent income to move in and the epic parties are long gone

I live there - and thank god my lease is almost up. Here is an honest review-
I have only seen vomit on the grounds twice - once it was clearly kibbles and bits and the other time looked and smelled like human vomit.

I get waken up from party noise only once every two months or so, so it isn'tt a big issue

The biggest problem is a lot of the units have mold problems - which is gross in itself, but with the rotting walls - loads and loads of bugs can get in. When treating the area for bugs I worry about a child or dog getting sick - its an awful cycle

The positives are that the grounds are kept very nice, it is a cheap place and seems safe overall- most neighbors are really friendly. I think there are much better places out there - but also much much worse for the price point
